Overview

This page is Clopay’s Canyon Ridge® Carriage House 4-Layer door with the Ultra-Grain® finish. You get a steel + Intellicore® + steel core, then composite overlays molded from real wood. The steel base stays visible and can be finished in Ultra-Grain® Clear Cypress (stained wood look) or a solid color. Overlays are Mahogany or Clear Cypress. Official R-value is 18.4 with 2" Intellicore® polyurethane. Ultra-Grain® is Clopay’s faux-wood paint finish — it looks like stained wood without staining or yearly upkeep.

Choose Ultra Grain when you want a stained-wood carriage house look, dark or two-tone options, and real insulation — without the maintenance of a Reserve wood door. Ideal for Florida because the composite overlay will not rot, warp, or crack like real wood.

What is Ultra-Grain?

Clopay’s Ultra-Grain® finish simulates stained wood on steel without the staining and upkeep of real wood. On the 4-Layer Canyon Ridge, it is applied to the visible steel base under the composite overlays.

How is 4-Layer different from 5-Layer?

4-Layer shows the steel base under the overlays and can take Ultra-Grain stains or paint (R-18.4). 5-Layer covers the steel with full composite cladding so you see only wood-look material (R-20.4).

Can Overhead Door of America install a Canyon Ridge Ultra Grain on my home?

Yes. We are an official Clopay dealer. We measure the opening, confirm wind-load needs, help you choose color and windows, and install the door with a matching LiftMaster opener when you want one.

Do these doors work in Florida heat, humidity, and storms?

Yes. We specify rust-resistant hardware, proper weather seals, and WindCode® reinforcement where required. Insulated models also help keep an attached garage more comfortable in summer.
