Overview

Clopay Coachman® is a modern overhead door that still looks like a swing-out carriage house door. Under the woodgrain-textured composite overlays is a four-layer build: steel, insulation, steel, and overlay. Insulation is Intellicore® polyurethane or polystyrene, with official R-values from 6.5 to 18.4. There are 15 designs across four series, factory colors, and more than 1,500 Color Blast® paints. Coachman is a favorite for Colonial, Craftsman, farmhouse, and cottage homes throughout Brevard, Volusia, and Orange County.

Coachman is the sweet spot when you want carriage house character, real insulation, and less money than Canyon Ridge or Reserve wood. The overlay gives you the wood look without sanding or staining.

Questions we hear

Can I paint a Coachman door black or dark gray?

No. Clopay does not allow dark colors (LRV 12 or less) on Coachman — it can warp the overlay and voids the warranty. Ask us about Canyon Ridge Elements or 4-Layer if you want a dark carriage house door.

Can Overhead Door of America install a Coachman on my home?

Yes. We are an official Clopay dealer. We measure the opening, confirm wind-load needs, help you choose color and windows, and install the door with a matching LiftMaster opener when you want one.

Do these doors work in Florida heat, humidity, and storms?

Yes. We specify rust-resistant hardware, proper weather seals, and WindCode® reinforcement where required. Insulated models also help keep an attached garage more comfortable in summer.
